Review: Her Cinderella Complex by Jenna Bayley-Burke

Heather Tindall is a woman who believes in happily ever after and the wedding of her dreams; that is until she meets Curtis, a man who makes her dream of love, a man who is also her new boss. Curtis is a solitary man, one who intends never to fall in love and certainly not with a woman he can’t get rid of but when she brings order to his office with her assertive nature he realizes that she’s perfect to keep the press from annoying him and also to keep the vultures of the female persuasion from head hunting him. But what Heather gets from her dream man is a proposal of financial and personal security, not what she wants; love. Can Heather build the relationship she wants from Curtis on these little tidbits or is she just heading down the road of heartbreak?

A contemporary story that tugs at the heartstrings, Her Cinderella Complex by Jenna Bayley-Burke leaves the reader in no doubt of the love these characters feel for one another. I loved these characters, Heather for her emotional responses and the way she tried to hide her feelings, while I enjoyed Curtis for his struggle to be the aloof man he perceives himself to be. Reading about these two left me feeling happy and euphoric at times and at other times wanting to bang heads together. Curtis and Heather both struggle with their own demons, Curtis with his past and seeking answers to questions he has, while Heather has her own insecurities, of trying to get over a man that can never love her. Overall this was a marvelous book that I enjoyed from start to finish and it portrayed characters that were down to earth and that I could really relate to. Ms. Bayley-Burke is an author I love to read and this book will definitely go into my keeper collection.
